Building Our Futures (BOF), an action research project undertaken over a two year period and managed by representatives of DPOs and HR experts,found a range of employment and HR issues undermining DPOs ability to survive and thrive and meet the needs of their disabled staff.

This is is a difficult time for DPOs. The BOF report is about dealing with the challenges we face as organisations run by disabled people who employ disabled people. It is about how we can work with funders and support organisations to help our organisations be more effective, so we can not only survive but thrive and deliver quality services to disabled people. The BOF report has implications for DPOs across the whole country, not just in London, and is part of a range of work that is being done to capacity build DPOs - to make our organisations better at what we do.
