Care in the future – where’s the choice and control?
Care in the future – where’s the choice and control?
Support and information services are disappearing at a frightening rate due to funding cuts.

Choice and control is becoming more restricted by cuts in individual budgets and tightening of eligibility criteria is one of the points raised in our information paper on the ‘Caring for our future’ government consultation, which requests views on the provision of care provision in the future. The consultation closes on Friday 2 December.
The paper provides information on the four reports, Fairer care funding, Vision of social care, Adult social care and the Palliative care funding review which inform the discussion.
We highlight key issues raised by the questions posed in the consultation, such as: Support and information together with a wide range of responsive services are disappearing as local user led groups and local voluntary groups close at a frightening rate due to funding cuts. Improvements in quality of care and the likelihood of prevention to enable independence is becoming an unobtainable aspiration in the present climate of cuts.
Inclusion London believes that councils and central government must work together to protect people with impairments, so they are not further disabled by cuts in care and cuts in services, support and advocacy provided by user led organisations.
