Inclusion London’s seminar on Disability in the Equality Act 2010 on Thursday 23 September was a great success. Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre’s conference room was filled to the brim with delegates to hear about and discuss rights under the new Equality Act, due to start coming into force in October. Delegates primarily came from public sector bodies, some private and voluntary sector organisations and from DDPOs.

Particularly in the context of the impact of looming government spending cuts, representatives were concerned about the new Conservative-Liberal government’s proposals to weaken the specific equality duties for the public sector, which are currently out for consultation. Further information on the government's consultation on the set of proposals is available elsewhere on this website.

A report of the seminar, including a summary of presentations, discussions and attendance, is available to download below.

The presentations at the seminar by Caroline Gooding and the presentation by guest speaker, Simone Aspis can also be downloaded from the link on the right.
