Disability Alliance (DA) is conducting a survey on Disability Living Allowance (DLA). This will be used to inform their response to the government’s consultation on DLA. Inclusion London wants to help DA get a good response to its survey and is asking London DPOs and disabled people to respond to it if they can.

Of course, Inclusion London also wants to know your views about the proposals on DLA, so please keep sending us your views or copy your response to the DA survey to us. Send information to policy@inclusionlondon.co.uk This will help us in our response to the government’s plans.

The Government is planning to:

  •  cut DLA expenditure by 20 per cent (and reduce the number of claimants by around this proportion);
  •  introduce a new assessment to help it do this; • limit the care component (to be renamed ‘daily living’) to two rates
  •  actually get rid of the DLA as such and re-title the benefit ‘Personal Independence Payment’ with a new set of rules.

DA is asking people what they think of this and how they think it may affect them. The survey is a little long (but DA says it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete.

The survey is available at: www.surveymonkey.com/s/dlareform

DA are also asking people what they think about the questions the government is asking in its consultation. This survey is at: www.surveymonkey.com/s/dlareformgovtquestions

If you would prefer a Word version of the questionnaire(s) then email kbutler@disabilityalliance.org

• You can get more information about what the government proposes and links to its consultation document on these issues on our newspage.
