Government U Turns on DLA/PIP mobility component cut

Pressure from Deaf and disabled people’s organisations persuaded Maria Miller, to U turn on the decision to cut the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)/Personal Independence Allowance (PIP) from those in residential homes.

The government Minister for disabled people said that having listened ‘to the strong concerns of disabled people and their organisations’ and considered the evidence from the Low review she has decided that when DLA is replaced with PIP in 2013, disabled people in residential care will continue to receive the mobility component of PIP.
