What future? What independence after Independent Living Fund closes?
Lobby your MP on 13 September 2.15 – 3.15pm House of Commons
Invite your MP to the meeting and inform them of why your care and support provided by Independent Living Fund is under serious threat.
Date: 13 September
Time: 2.15-3.15pm - please arrive about an hour before hand to leave time to go through security.
Place: House of Commons - watch this space for details of the room.
The Independent Living Fund (ILF) will close completely in 2015. The government is consulting on the future of ILF, including their proposals to pass responsibilities for the ILF to local authorities so it becomes part of the ‘mainstream’ provision of social care funding. Disabled people fear that their care and support, currently funded by the ILF, will be greatly reduced because the government has not committed to transfer or ring fence the ILF funding. Without this protection the ILF funding/care is likely to be cut due to severe demands on local authority budgets. This follows the pattern of cuts in funding and rising costs of local care packages already experienced by disabled people.
Let your MP know the threat to your independence by attending the meeting on 13 September organised by DPAC: http://www.dpac.uk.net/
